WITH 3RD US DIVISION IN KOREA: The United Nations Command warned the Communists that any unnecessary delay on their part would result in new offensive by the Allies and another terrible winter campaign for the Reds. General Omar Bradley, Joint Chairman of United States Chiefs of Staffs, said today [Oct 2] after watching Allied autumn offensive in action that the UN could fight the Korean war to a successful military conclusion if armistice talks fail completely.
Bradley began a tour of the Korean front lines seven days after the UN kicked off on a new offensive that the 8th Army Commander Gen James Van Fleet said could carry all the way to the Yalu River if it became necessary and as UN bluntly warned the Communists that `time for bluffing is over`.
Bradley, made his statement during a flying visit to the US front with Van Fleet and UN Commander Gen Ridgway. Coupled with the UN broadcast which said the UN command is `poised and prepared to strike`, Bradley`s statement indicated that the Allies are growing weary of continued stalling and disruptive tactics by the Communists.
