Legendary singer and songwriter Lionel Richie is taking a break from performing while he recovers from a procedure for atrial fibrillation, his representative said.

The 77-year-old singer`s doing well after the procedure, said the representative, butwill take some time off before returning to the stage.

Richie had postponed two concerts in June after falling ill and was reportedly taken to a hospital after a performance in August.

He was scheduled to perform with Earth, Wind & Fire in San Francisco, Chicago and Columbus. He is also scheduled to begin his `King of Hearts` Las Vegas residency in October.•
