Nine students become Spelling Bee Lahore champions

LAHORE: Nine students of different age groups were declared on Monday winner of the Lahore Regional Championship of the DAWN Spelling Bee Competition 2015.

The winners of age group (9-11) are Fatima Eshaal of Froebel`s International School, Lake City, Lahore, Abdullah Ayub and M.

Hasham Khan of Beaconhouse School System, Palm Tree Campus, Gujranwala.

The winners of age group (12-14) are Hira Fatima Malik of Lahore Grammar School, 1-A-1 Senior Branch, Ghalib Market Lahore, Rida Tariq of Convent of Jesus and Mary 4-Durand Road, Lahore and Nawal Rauf of Lahore Grammar School, 1-ShahJamal, Lahore.

The winners of age group (15-17) are Munema Zahid of Lahore Grammar School, Model Town, Lahore, Maryam Rauf of Multan Public School and College for Girls, Multan, and M.

Ahsan Shafique of Lahore Grammar School Senior Branch, Officers Colony, Multan.

US Consulate General Lahore Management Officer Jeramee Rice distributed shields and certificates among the winners of the championship. The pronouncer was David Purrington and the judges were Ms. Ismat Riaz and Ms.

Zainab Afaque.

These nine contestants will now compete with the Karachi and Islamabad regional winners in the national championship scheduled to be held on Nov 19 in Islamabad.
