KARACHI: R e n o w n e d businessman and chairman of the board of Lucky Cement Mo h a m m a d Yunus Tabba passed away on Monday.According to the website of Lucky Cement Limited (LCL), Mr Tabba started his over 50 years long career with Yunus Brothers Group (YBG) as one of its founding members and saw it progress through manufacturing, sales, management, marketing management and general management.

With his expertise and diversified experience, he took the YBG to a level which was appreciated by both local and international business communities.

Mr Tabba had also been awarded `Businessman of the year` by the Chambers of Commerce several times during his career.

In recognition of his services rendered in the field of entrepreneurship and public service, he was conferred Sitara-i-Imtiaz by President of Pakistan.

The YBG is a conglomerate with a diverse portfolio of companies which include various textile mills, Lucky One Mall, Tabba Heart Institute, Tabba Kidney Institute, Lucky Foods, Lucky Commodities, Lucky Entertainment, Yunus Energy, Lucky Knits, Yunus Wind Power, Lucky Motor Corporation, Lucky Cement, Lucky Core Industries and Lucky Electric Power.

President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Irfan Iqbal Sheikh while extending heartfelt condolences said Late Mr Tabba was highly-acclaimed as a philanthropist and public figure and had led from the front for fivelong-decades with innovation, ambition, perseverance and institutionbuilding.

`He was an utmost optimist in the future of Pakistan and kept expanding his businesses and venturing into new businesses for more than 50 years.

FPCCI chief said Mr Tabba`s companies were at par with top multinational companies of the world and this was the reason that he was successful in bringing many multinationals to Pakistan in large-scale joint ventures, investment deals and industrial collaborations.

He said late Mr Tabba should be given the highest civil award of Pakistan for his all-round services and his achievements should be highlighted on a wide-scale on a national level for the youth to learn and imbibe.
