PPP urges workers to observe ZAB`s anniversary at homes

LAHORE: The Pakistan People`s Party (PPP) has urged its workers to observe Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto`s 40th death anniversary at their homes instead of holding formal gatherings.

Punjab PPP President Qamar Zaman Kaira said here on Friday that in view of the coronavirus outbreak no gathering should be organised anywhere to mark the party`s founding chairman`s death anniversary f alling on Saturday (today).Mr Kaira directed the workers to hold Quran Khwani at their homes and distribute charity food among the deserving people to pay tribute to the late Bhutto.

He said the jiyalas (diehard workers) should post Bhutto`s photographs as their DP on the social media accounts and also share the country`s first elected prime minister`s speeches through the social media.

PPP General Secretary Chaudhry Manzoor said the money saved fromcancelling formal gatherings should be utilised to provide ration to the poor neighbours affected by the lockdown because of the coronavirus.

Information Secretary Hassan Murtaza said the pandemic could bar the workers from holding meetings but not from serving the deserving people.

He said they should go to the needy just as they had been going door to door during election campaigns to seek votes. Staf f Reporter
