LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police arrested on Wednesday a man who had killed his niece and her husband for honour in Nishtar Colony on Tuesday.

Zargul Khan and Kainaat, of Charsadda, had contracted love marriage two or three years ago and had been living in Lahore in a rented house in Nishtar Colony since then.

On Tuesday, Kainaat`s uncle Shehryar first shot dead Zargul Khan, a carpet seller, at his workplace and later gunned down Kainaat in her house. The suspect also abducted their minor son and fled after snatching a motorcycle from a passerby.

CIA Superintendent of Police (SP) Tariq Mastoi told a press conference at Model Town said the CIA police team had traced the suspect when he was fleeing the city for Peshawar and also recovered the child. He said Shehryar also confessed to killing the couple for honour.

The SP also announced cash and commendatory cenificates for the team which arrested Shehryar.

MURDERED: A man was killed by the brother and uncle of his sister-in-law for allegedly beating her in Harbanspura on Wednesday.

Police said Asghar, 45, of Gadiyanwala, beat his brother`s wife, Shahida. She went to her parents in Sheikhopura and informed her family about the incident.

Police said the incident angered Shahida`s brother Arif and uncle Ajmal who shot dead Asghar at his house. Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case.

Cantonment Division Superintendent of Police Tahir Rehman said they had arrested both suspects.
