Body of missing woman retrieved from canal

BA H AWA LNAGA R: The body of a 65-year-old woman, who had gone missing a day ago, was retrieved from Hakra Canal, Fort Abbas, on Wednesday, Rescue 1122 said.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, Kaneez Fatima of Abdullah Town had gone to Hakra Canal to wash clothes on Tuesday evening but did not return home. Her f amily searched for her, but to no avail.

They later informedRescue 1122 about the missing woman, fearing she might have fallen into the canal and drowned.

District Officer (Emergency)RaoSharafat said the Rescue 1122 teams launched a search operadoninthecanalthat had to be postponed because of the darkness on Tuesday night.

However, on Wednesday her body was seen floating in the canal near Chak 280/HR village and was retrieved by the rescuers.

Fort Abbas police were investigating into the matter.

DIES ON ROAD: A police official died whilehis daughter suffered critical head injuries af ter the motorcycle they were riding slipped near Chak 58/ HR, Haroonabad.

According to Rescue 1122, a policeman, Siddique, a resident of Chak 25/3R, was going home along with his daughter Nabeela on a motorcycle on Wednesday, when the two-wheeler slipped and both of them fell on the road.

As a result, Siddique died on the spot, while his daughter suffered critical head injuries and was shifted to the the Haroonabad Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Correspondent
