HYDERABAD: Back-to-back blasts in underground sewerage or gas lines — a second incident of its kind within the last few weeks — in the Sheedi Goth area of Qasimabad spread panic among people on Saturday.
The blasts occurred near Mama Rind hotel.
A close circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of the blasts in the underground sewerage line went viral. The sound of blasts was followed by a flame from the pipeline.
Locals claimed that a similar blast was heard in the area only a few days back. They said that the gas pipeline also passes through the area, besides the underground sewerage line. They said that perhaps leakage of gas was causing the blasts.
A former UC chairman from Qasimabad, Mehboob Abro, said that the blasts were taking place with short intervals because of a fault in the laying of sewerage pipeline by the consultants of the development works in Qasimabad.
