Rally against Modi`s visit to Srinagar planned

MUZAFFARABAD: People in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) capital will take to the streets on Saturday to express their solidarity with people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and express their anger over the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Srinagar.

The rally is being organised on the call of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders who have called for a march by a million people near the site of Mr Modi`s public meeting in Srinagar.

In Muzaffarabad, a rally will begin from the press club and end at Domel, said Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, a well-known Kashmiri activist, here on Thursday.

Indian authorities have detained key APHC leaders and hundreds of their supporters to prevent them from holding their protest rally during Mr Modi`s visit.

Key Hurriyat leaders such as Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabir Ahmed Shah and Syed Ali Shah Geelani have been putunderhouse arrest while Mr Yasin Malil( has been detained at a police station.-Tariq Naqash
