Joint public safety cell set up

PESHAWAR: Army and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have set up a joint public safety cell in the wake of growing incidents of extortion and activities of anti-state elements in the province and Fata.

Sources said that the joint public safety cell had been recently operationalised. The general public has been asked to provide information on the helpline about the threats from terrorists and extortionists.

The cell would take action on complaints and information related to the extortion and intimidating calls by the terrorist groups.

Officials said that names and other particulars of the callers would be kept secret.

The cell comprises officials of different intelligence agencies and police that would operate round the clock.

The complainant can provide information on helpline number 1425 or by sending text message or through Whatsapp on 0333-3331425 or email to ipsc@ publicservicekp.org.

The general public has been urged to trust the cell and provide accurate and credible information in order to eradicate the menace of extortion and terrorism.
