BUSCARO, a Pakistan-based commute platform, has achieved EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation) profitability in under four years of operations, with total burn of $1.4m since its founding, as per a press release.
The company improved its EBITDA margin from negative 9 per cent a year ago to positive, while gross margins expanded by 48pc over the same period.
BusCaro has now reached $7.1m in annual recurring revenue (ARR).
The milestone comes amid tighter global funding conditions, persistent inflation and macroeconomic uncertainty arising from ongoing geopolitical conflicts, which have increased the focus on profitability and capital efficiency across the startup sector.
In its fourth year of operations, BusCaro completed 9m bookings and increased annual revenue from $4.5m to $6.5m. The company also reduced operating expenses to single-digit percentages of gross merchandise value, while continuing to expand into new cities and verticals.
During the year, Buscaro launched an on-demand ride service, expanding its offerings beyond its core corporate and school-commute business.
The company currently serves multinational corporations, banks, hospitals, and airlines.
