QUETTA: Senior Supreme Court judge Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail has expressed deep concern over the prevailing situation in Balochistan, saying the province’s condition brings tears to his eyes and that all stakeholders must sit together to find ways to restore peace.
Addressing a reception hosted by the Balochistan Bar Council on Friday, Justice Mandokhail said the services he had rendered during his professional career were part of his responsibilities and duties.
He recalled that people were now advised to take precautions while travelling to Quetta, whereas there was a time when he could travel anywhere without security personnel.
He said it was a matter of serious concern how the province had reached its present state.
Justice Mandokhail said improving conditions in Balochistan was not solely the government’s responsibility and that every citizen needed to reflect on the causes behind the prevailing situation.
He stressed the need for collective efforts and dialogue to restore the peaceful conditions the province had enjoyed in the past. ‘We need peace because business activities can flourish and people can freely visit courts only when there is peace,’ he said.-Saleem Shahid
