Thousands took to streets to celebrate PTI govt’s ouster: Muqam

HARIPUR: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and Safron and Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Engineer Ameer Muqam on Friday said that thousands of people took to the streets to celebrate the end of the PTI government, reaffirming their support for peace and rejection of the PTI’s false narrative.

‘The world has witnessed how our armed forces inflicted a humiliating defeat on the enemy during Maraka Haq,’ he told a public meeting here.

The PML-N leaders, including former MNA retired Captain Safdar, Sardar Shah Jahan Yousaf, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, MNA Babar Nawaz, Shaista Jadoon and Sahibzada Hamid Shah, were also present on the occasion.

Mr Muqam thanked the people for their overwhelming participation, saying thousands had turned up despite receiving only one day’s notice.

He said people had remained frustrated during the PTI government and celebrated its ouster by taking to the streets in Peshawar, Swat, Battagram and Shangla.

The minister said that despite remaining in power in the province for nearly 13 and a half years, the PTI had failed to address the basic problems of the people or put the province on the path of development.

He said during the PTI’s four-year tenure at the Centre, the party had pushed the country into economic and political difficulties.

Mr Muqam said the massive public gathering had sent a clear message that people were fed up with politics of confrontation, protests, long marches and personal interests.

He said instead of dreaming of returning to power, the PTI leadership should prepare to account for its performance during its tenure and explain the utilisation of public resources.

Paying tribute to the armed forces, the minister said the Pakistan Army was not only guarding the country’s borders but also standing shoulder to shoulder with the nation in every difficult situation.

Mr Muqam said whether during earthquakes, floods or the war against terrorism, the soldiers in uniform had always served and protected the nation, making the ultimate sacrifice whenever required.

Referring to the recent Indo-Pak tensions, he said the armed forces had responded courageously and professionally to an enemy many times larger in size, demonstrating Pakistan’s defence capabilities, national unity and military strength before the world.

The minister said the achievement had not only enhanced Pakistan’s standing internationally but had also filled every Pakistani with pride.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan had achieved significant successes on the defence, diplomatic and economic fronts.

Mr Muqam said effective measures had been taken to stabilise the national economy, restore international confidence in Pakistan, promote investment and strengthen foreign relations. APP
