PESHAWAR: Residents of Landi Arbab village on the outskirts of Peshawar on Tuesday blocked Sher Shah Suri road outside the press club here to protest alleged police highhandedness and grabbing of their land by revenue authorities.
The villagers were led by Zahir Khan advocate, Abdur Rab, Arshad Ali Ahmadzai, Abdul Hadi, Mazhar Hussain, Izhar and others.
They were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the police, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) and revenue officials for allegedly grabbing their land.
The angry protesters also chanted slogans against the police.
Talking to mediapersons on the occasion, Zahir Khan and Arshad Ali alleged that the capital city police and PDA officials had demolished boundary wall of their land located at the main Ring Road to make way for construction of a checkpost there.
Zahir Khan said that the police occupied about one kanal of commercial land in the jurisdiction of BhanaMari police station, and added that if constructed, the checkpost would devalue their remaining 15 kanal of land, as it would block its front.
