HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Accountability Court (AC) on Friday remanded a sacked policeman and a retired officer of the district accounts office to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) till April 21 in two separate corruption references.

The retired policeman, Yusuf Khanzada, and his son, Arif Khanzada, are facing a reference pertaining to the accumulation of wealth beyond their known sources of income.

They were arrested in February after a raid on their house in Hyderabad and seizure of money, assets and documents of properties and more assets worth tens of millions of rupees.

The retired officer, Dr Mushtaq, was arrested in March by the NAB authorities for interrogation into his involvement in a corruption scam.

The investigation officers of the two references informed the court that they had sent call-up notices to various witnesses in connection with the two cases. They stated that they had also conducted inquiries regarding their bank accounts.

Defence counsel barrister Benyish Qureshi and Rahman Ghaus argued that their clients were in NAB custody for many days and had been cooperating with the investigators but the NAB office had not come up with any details of their findings so far.

NAB officials informed the court that some other witnesses had to be interrogated in the presence of Yusuf Khanzada and that`s why his further remand was necessary.
