LAHORE: A delegation of the Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan (IPO-Pakistan) on Monday visited University of Engineering and Technology (UET) to promote innovation and facilitate researchers, faculty and students.
Prof Dr Azizur Rehman of IPO-Pakistan, along with its Director General Nauman Aslam Sheikh, Regional Office Lahore Director Mueed Rana and Senior Examiner of Patents Shakra Khurshid held a meeting with UET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Munir to explore opportunities for strengthening future collaboration.
During the meeting, matters relating to research, innovation, intellectual property rights, patents, technology transfer, researchcommercialisation and entrepreneurship were discussed.
Office of Research, Innovation and C om me r ci a lis at ion (ORIC) Director Dr Mohsin Ali Kazmi and UET Incubation Centre Manager Farhan Mahmood gave a briefing on the research and innovation ecosystem.
UET VC Prof Munir said that comprehensive measures were being taken to connect academic research with innovation, industry and entrepreneurial opportunities.
IPO-Pakistan chairman Prof Rehman said that universities must go beyond conventional teaching and research and play an active role in promoting intellectual property, patents, innovation, technology transfer, commercialization and entrepreneurship in the modern knowledge economy.
