BAH AWALNAGA R: The family and relatives of a biker who died at the Chishtian THQ Hospital due to alleged delay in treatment held a protest at the hospital on Tuesday.
Holding a demonstration outside the emergency ward of the hospital, the family said Siddique, a 38-year-old resident of Dahranwala, had been hit by a car driven by an unidentified driver. He was shifted to hospital by Rescue 1122 in an injured condition.
The family alleged that THQ hospital doctors failed to treat Siddique for several hours. They claimed that after pleading with the hospital staff, they were able to convince the staff to administer him some medicine and undergo a CT scan. However, upon reviewing the scan report, a duty doctor termed the patient’s condition better and advised them to take him home.
The family added that they showed the report to another doctor at the hospital who declared their patient’s condition critical and urged them to immediately transfer him to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital.
They stated that they repeatedly called Rescue 1122 for an ambulance; however, neither did arescue official arrive at the scene nor did any paramedic attend to the patient. Ultimately, Siddique succumbed to his injuries in the emergency ward.
The family demanded that the paramedics responsible for the negligence be identified and disciplinary action be taken against them.
No THQ hospital official was available for comments.
SUSPENDED: The tehsil head of the Pera Force was suspended from service after the Minchinabad Traders’ Association made claims of corruption, extortion, torture, and misbehaviour, which were found true during an investigation launched by the deputy commissioner’s office on Tuesday.
On Sept 3, the Minchinabad Traders’ Association staged a citywide strike, accusing the Pera Force team, under the supervision of Tehsil Head Hafiz Jamshed, of corruption, extortion and mistreatment of traders under the guise of antiencroachment operations.
Following a demand by the association, an inquiry committee from the Bahawalnagar DC office suspended the tehsil incharge.
A letter issued by the DC office on Sept 8 said Jamshed had been suspended under the Peeda Act 2006.
