MANSEHRA: A woman and her six-year-old son were electrocuted in the Gulfamabad area on the outskirts of the city here on Tuesday.
The woman and her son, residents of Dodial, were visiting their relatives.
According to family members, the boy touched an electric wire and received an electric shock, and his mother rushed to rescue him but was also electrocuted. Both were taken to a health facility, where doctors pronounced them dead.
The bodies were taken to the family residence in Dodial and later laid to rest after funeral prayers.
Meanwhile, the Torghar district administration held the groundbreaking ceremony for the tehsil offices building in the Dormera area. The building would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs200 million.
‘The construction of tehsil administration offices would help provide better civic, education and healthcare services to people,’ Torghar Deputy Commissioner Dr Yasir Khan told the ceremony.
Torghar was granted the status of a settled district through a presidential order in 2011, but it lacks adequate government offices, healthcare, education and roads.
Mr Khan said the District Development Advisory Committee had approved Rs200 million for construction of the Dormera tehsil offices.
The DC said a land dispute between local tribes had been amicably resolved, paving the way for the smooth execution of the Dormera offices.
‘We have also launched work on Torghar’s first degree college at Judbah, while the remaining construction work on the district headquarters hospital is nearing completion. The time is not far when people will be able to access better healthcare services at their doorstep,’ Dr Khan said.
