KARACHI: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a man for attempting to kill his three daughters by poisoning them in Surjani Town.

The police said the suspect was ‘forcibly’ giving the poison to his children when the neighbours heard their screams and informed the police, who rushed to the spot, broke open the door and arrested the suspect.

Surjani Town SHO Amjad Kiani said the police recovered rat poison pills from his custody.

He said the wife of the held man, who is an addict, had left him.

He said the neighbours told the police that he was forcibly trying to give poisonous water to his children.

The police registered an attempted murder case against him and launched an investigation.

Young man shot dead

A young man was shot dead in Sohrab Goth on Sunday morning. Police said Hakim Jamali, 28, was killed near Jamali Pull off Superhighway.

The Sohrab Goth police in a statement said he was killed by robbers over resistance.

However, SSP-East Irfan Bahadur said that they were investigating the incident.
