CHARSADDA: Two minor girls were wounded when stray bullets hit them in Shabqadar tehsil here on Sunday.

Local people said that the two girls were playing outside their house in Hajizai area when stray bullets fired from unspecified direction hit them. As a result, they were seriously injured.

The injured girls, Seema and Yasmeen, were shifted to a hospital in Shabqadar where doctors referred them to a major hospital in Peshawar in precarious condition.

According to the residents, incidents of firing in the air had grown in the area in the recent days, saying the stray bullets often hit passers-by and people inside their homes.

They demanded of the police to take action against those involved in firing in the air, which often resulted in causing grievous injuries to people.
