Gunman killed in police encounter

LAHORE:Agunmanwas killed in an encounter with police in Misri Shah on Wednesday.

Police said three gunmen snatched a motorcycle from a man near Railway Quarters.

A police team, led by SubInspector Zaffar Iqbal, chased the suspects. Seeing police, the gunmen opened fire which was retaliated. In the crosshre,one ofthe robbers, identified as Faisal, 32, was killed while two others escaped.

Police shifted the body to morgue and were conductingraids to arrest the two others.

Misri Shah Station House Officer Shabbir Awan said the deceased gunman was wanted in robbery and robbery-cum-murder cases in different areas of Lahore and Sheikhopura.

He said the home department had earlier proposed Rs400,000 as head money for his arrest.

BODY FOUND: A newborn baby was found dead in Barkat Town in Shahdara.

Police said some passersby spotted the body and alerted them. Police shifted it to morgue and registered a case against unidentified people for abandoning the baby.
