PESH AWAR: The law enforcers on Saturday tightened security and continuously carried out search for suspected persons at different checkpoints in the provincial metropolis keeping in view the bomb attack at imambargah in Rawalpindi.

It was observed that in the cantonment area the personnel of security forces also checked vehicles on Bara Road besides the routine checking on various permanent checkpoints on Mall Road, Saddar Road, Khyber Road and University Road.

Some of the entry points have been closed by stretching barbed wire in cantonment and city areas.

Police also continued patrolling in the areas connecting rural localities and checked motorcyclists. A senior police official said that there were reports about entry of a van with some armed men on board who could attempt to target any of the sensitive places.

`We have tightened security and trying to locate the vehicle,` the official said and added that public should also feel the responsibility to support the law enforcement agencies in the hght against terror to avoid any untoward incident.

The official, however, complained of shortage of personnel in different police stations and suggested that the high-ups should increase the number of policemen on the main points at least to counter attacks.
