LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik suspended on Monday an employee of the court for his involvement in a child abuse scandal of Kasur.

Sources at the LHC registrar office said that senior clerk Tanzilur Rehman was a nominated accused in one of the seven FIRs registered by the Ganda Singhwala police.

They said the chief justice was of the view that the suspect (clerk) should face a legal course before the court concerned like other suspects of the case and investigation by the police should not be influenced from any quarter.

Meanwhile, the LHC chief justice has been requested to take suo motu notice of the case.

In an application addressed to the chief justice, a civil society activist, Abdullah Malik, says the Punjab government once again decided to get the child abuse scandal probed through a judicial inquiry.

Mr Malik has appealed to the chief justice to take suo motu notice of the incident and bring the culprits to justice.
