LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Thursday his party did not want any confrontation and would hold a peaceful march on Sept 27.
He said it was not a recreational march, but an ‘Insaf March’ (Justice March) and that the PTI had respect for all state institutions.
Addressing a lawyers’ convention at the bar, Gohar warned if decisions were still not made on the basis of justice, the country’s ‘countdown’ could begin. He appealed to the lawyers and political parties to support the PTI.
‘We are going to hold an Insaf March. Support us,’he said.
The PTI chairman stressed the need to respect dissent, saying that suppressing differences of opinion gives rise t o pr oblems. He expressed his confidence that the PTI believed its founding chairman Imran Khan had neither struck a deal (with establishment), nor would do so in future.
He said the PTI had only demanded that Imran Khan should be provided medical treatment, which is his right, adding that the party had approached the court under the Constitutionand law for the purpose.
Claiming that all cases against Imran Khan were false, the PTI chairman expressed hope that justice would be done when ‘independent’ judges joined the courts.
Barrister Khan said the party would also raise these issues in the National Assembly, stressing that solutions to the country’s problems would not be found on ‘television’ but in the parliament. PTI Senator Hamid Khan said Imran Khan was the country’s biggest leader and his reputation could not be tarnished by leveling false allegations against him.
‘These are all fake rulers and politicians, Senator Khan added.
He alleged that the 26th and 27th amendments had been introduced to control the Constitution and the judiciary.
‘Nobody is getting justice from the judiciary at present,’ he alleged.
He said the time had come for everyone to join hands to bring about a change in the country.
Referring to a statement by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi that the system had collapsed, Hamid Khan questioned, ‘If the system has collapsed, why are you (Nagvi) still in your seat?’ Staff Reporter
