QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan has approved in principle the phased relocation of dairy farms operating within Quetta’s urban limits, citing growing concerns over sanitation, waste disposal, public health, traffic and environmental pollution.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by the chief secretary, which reviewed implementation of the Quetta Master Plan, water resource management, enforcement of building codes and the medical reimburse-ment system for government employees.
The meeting was informed that dairy farms located inside the city were creating problems related to waste disposal, cleanliness, hygiene, human and animal health, traffic and environmental pollution.
Mr Khan directed the authorities to prepare a practical implementation plan, including a phased relocation schedule, responsibilities of relevant departments, required facilities, logistics and clear timelines.Saleem Shahid
