Hussain clinches Quaid golf championships

LAHORE: Young Hussain Hamid of Royal Palm won the All-Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Golf Championships with a two-day net aggregate of 139 at the Lahore Gymkhana course here on Sunday.

As the day progressed it was Farhan Bhatti, Isf andyar Khan and Hussain Hamid who came to limelight showing immense potential and quality play.

With a round of net 71 on the final day, Hussain managed an aggregate of net 139, five under par and was rewarded for his ef fort through the award of the prized Quaid-i-Azam Trophy.

The overnight leader Isfandyar had to be content with the runner-up prize with a net score of 140 while Farhan Bhatti came third with a net score of 142.

In the gross category, the situation became interesting as three champions ended up the championship at a gross score of 149.

Mohammed Rehman of Royal Palm was declared winner of first gross as he had a better score in the closing nine holes. Mohsen Zaf ar of Gymkhana came second and Ahmed Baig of Garrison ended up third.

Prizes were awarded to performers by Maj-Gen Mohammed Tahir in a grand prize distribution ceremony.
