KHUZDAR: Five people, including three women and a girl from the same family, were killed and one person was injured in a head-on collision between a car and a speeding truck on the Quetta-Karachi highway near Winder, Lasbela district, on Wednesday evening.

Police officials said the accident occurred in the Adam-Khand area when a car travelling from Quetta to Karachi was struck by a truck coming from the opposite direction.

`Three women and a six-year-old girl died on the spot, while a fifth victim succumbed to injuries while being shifted to Karachi,` a police official said. The driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a local hospital.

`No one survived to identify the deceased, a police officer told Dawn. He added that no identification documents or belongings were found in the family`s luggage.

However, authorities later determined that the victims belonged to the Hazara community and were associated with the Hazara Democratic Party. The bodies would be sent to Quetta for identification.
