Man shot dead in Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: A man was killed and two others sustained wounds in separate firing incidents here on Sunday.

Police said Mumtaz Ali was attacked by his rivals over a petty dispute in Mela Mandrakhel village’s bazaar. They said Mumtaz sustained bullet wounds, but another villager identified as Iqbal was killed in the incident. They said the attackers escaped the scene while the body and the injured were shifted to the government city hospital.

Police said they had registered a case against attackers named Arsala Khan and Sadullah Khan on the complaint of injured Mumtaz.

The second firing incident occurred in Azadkhel Betanni area in the limits of Tajori police station. Police said one Ajab Khan was shot and injured by his rival over a land dispute.

The attacker identified as Noor Jamal tried to flee but police captured him near Wargary village and seized an assault rifle and 15 bullets from him, they maintained.

Meanwhile, assistant commissioner Eid Nawaz Sherani paid surprise inspection visits to bazaars in Lakki city and Ghaznikhel and Tajori towns on Sunday.

The visits were arranged after deputy commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir received complaints about sale of food items on exorbitant rates in Ramazan.

Mr Sherani fined over a dozen shopkeepers for overcharging consumers and selling commodities at prices of their own will. — Correspondent
