KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has expressed fears for the life of a senior member who it alleged was picl Izhar Ahmed Khan, a member of the MQM coordination committee who also holds British nationality, was taken into custody when he was visiting the F.B. Area residence of party lawmaker Abdul Haseeb, a statement issued in the afternoon said. Senior MQM leaders expressed apprehensions that Mr Khan might be pressured in custody to switch his loyalty and join the Pak Sarzameen Party.
Mr Khan`s family had approached the UK`s Foreign and Commonwealth Office and British High Commission in Islamabad, MQM leader Shahid Pasha said at a press conference held at the party`s headquarters.
A spokesperson for the Rangers was not immediately available for confirmation of the MQM leader`s arrest.
