Labourers seek ownership rights of houses

MINGORA: Mutahida Labour Federation, Swat chapter, has demanded of the provincial government to implement the orders of the Peshawar High Court on giving ownership rights to the workers living in the labour colony at Panr here.

They were speaking at a public meeting here on Saturday. The gathering was attended by large number of labourers.

On the occasion, the federation`s president Mohammad Iqbal and general secretary Mohammad Nabi pointed out that the labourers had been living in the labour colony for more than 20 years.

`The officials of the Workers Welfare Board are not willing to give the ownership rights to the labourers and causing delays in this regard.

We demand of the government to immediately give ownership rights to the workers,` Mr Iqbal said.

He said the labour board officials and labour federation office-bearers should sit together to resolve the issue.

The labourers` leaders also demanded immediate release of their dowry funds, death grants, and scholarships awards.
