RAWALPINDI: Military adviser to Saudi defence minister Maj Gen Talal Abdullah al Otaibi on Thursday called on Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interest, regional security and measures to further enhance bilateral defence collaboration, including a training exchange programme, were discussed.

Gen Bajwa affirmed the Pakistan Army`s support towards capacity-building of the Royal Saudi Land Forces.

The visiting dignitary acknowledged the Pakistan Army`s valuable contributions, particularly towards regional peace and stability, the ISPR said.

Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Saeed al Malkiy was also present during the meeting.

Earlier, the army chief visited the Army Medical Centre (AMC) in Abbottabad where Lt Gen Khawar Rahman took over as Colonel Commandant of AMC.

The outgoing Colonel Commandant retired Lt Gen Zahid Hamid, serving and retired officers and soldiers of the Army Medical Corps were present on the occasion, according to the ISPR.

Interacting with the commanding officers and soldiers of the Army Medical Corps, the army chief lauded the role of AMC in saving valuable lives in the war against terrorism.

He appreciated the contributions and service of doctors and paramedic staff in providing quality healthcare to the Pakistan Army as well as common citizens.

Earlier on arrival, the army chief laid a wreath at Yadgari-Shuhada and offered Fateha.-APP
