Fatima’s message

KARACHI: The following is the translation of Miss Fatima Jinnah’s broadcast in Urdu from Radio Pakistan on Sept 11 on the occasion of the third death anniversary of the Quaid-iAzam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. It is indeed very painful for me to address you on this sad occasion when the nation, steeped in grief, is observing the death anniversary of the Quaidi-Azam. Nevertheless, I considered it a duty and felt that I may thus be able to reach those in far-flung places where I cannot go personally. Therefore, I decided to speak on this occasion and share my sorrow with all of you.

Three years ago Pakistan suffered a terrible calamity and Quaid-i-Azam was no more with us. Except his bare memory ... we have no other memorial of Quaid-i-Azam to claim, barring of course Pakistan itself.

People of Pakistan do not however require only structural monuments to keep his memory green. ... The passage of time has not decreasedthislovebutonthe contraryithas increased. As I said on his anniversary last year Quaid-i-Azam died with Kashmir as his constant care and on his lips. News agencies
