RAHIM YAR KHAN: A villager captured a civet (locally known as Mushk Billa) from a cotton field in Mahi Chowk area, 54km from here near the Punjab Sindh border on Saturday night.
A local villager, Muhammad Khan Abbasi, said he and his neighbours saw this animal for the first time in their life. He said he didn’t know the name of this wild animal.
He said local residents were worried about the presence of this animal in their fields and even took their dogs to locate it.
He said this wild animal ate reptiles but did not take meat. He said villagers captured the cat through a trap and informed the Wildlife Rangers staff in Sadiqabad who took the animal with them.
Wildlife Rangers Assistant Director Rahim Yar Khan Mujahid Kalim told Dawn that the wildlife staff rescued the civet from the villagers of Mahi Chowk. It was injured in the process. He said since the animal was injured it was initially shifted to the Wildlife Park in Rahim Yar Khan where a civet was already caged. Correspondent
