KOHAT: The lawyer community on Sunday urged the relevant authorities to start a transit bus service between the city and the under construction judicial complex in the KDA Township to facilitate their clients and other visitors appearing in the courts.
Talking to Dawn by phone, Kohat District Bar Association former president Abdur Rauf said that the new Kohat judicial complex lacked parking facility, which rendered the old and newly constructed double-storey courtrooms useless to cater to the needs of the litigants and lawyers.
He said that in order to overcome the expected cumbersome journey, bus services should be started after every hour from Peshawar Chowk in Kohat city to facilitate people and lawyers.
Mr Rauf said that the old courts were situated inside the compound which had the offices of the district police officers and there was no issue of security, adding that the new facility must have foolproof arrangements for the judges and the advocates. The judicial complexes in Kohat and Hangu, which were the longstanding demands of the lawyers, are expected to become functional in December next year.
The judicial complexes will have all facilities, courtrooms, barrooms, lawyers seating compound and other relevant departments will be provided under one roof to the public.
