PESHAWAR: Two cars were completely destroyed when a truck driver lost control of his vehicle on the Northern Bypass Flyover and fell off the bridge, rescue officials said.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Faizi said that the truck landed on vehicles parked below outside a wedding hall, adding that upon receiving call, Rescue 1122’s medical and fire rescue teams immediately reached the scene of the accident.
‘The truck driver sustained injuries in the accident and after providing first aid at the scene, Rescue officials shifted the injured truck driver to the hospital,’ he said, adding that the rescue fire team took timely action and brought the fire in a vehicle parked below under control.
Meanwhile, a cop, deployed for security, sustained injuries on Sunday when a wall, recently built for installing inaugural plaque of an upgradation project of major routes of Peshawar city, collapsed, officials said.
They said that a ceremony had been arranged where Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi was also invited, adding that the wall was recently constructed and that a huge crowd had also arrived.
They said the wall collapsed after people began pushing and shoving each other.
‘It happened because of the crowd,’ an official said, adding that the injured police officer was shifted to hospital for treatment.
The chief minister, who had arrived at the venue to inaugurate the project, was also present at the time of the incident. He left the venue after briefly speaking on the occasion. Bureau Report
