Every KP tehsil to have cricket stadium: Imran

PESHAWAR, Oct 13: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran has said that they will construct a cricket stadium in each tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking as chief guest on the occasion of a peace cricket match here on Sunday, he said government would promote health activities in the province and Fata under its talent hunt scheme. `We will construct stadium in each and every tehsil of the province.

People witnessed a wonderful cricket peace match in Peshawar which was significant because such a big sport event took place in this city after so many years,` he said.

Mr Khan said that government had chalked out a programme to hunt talented cricketers and make stronger the national team. `PTI will produce good players like Shahid Afridi and Shoiab Akhtar through coaching facilities and other good envi-ronment from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata in all form of sports because we believe that such peaceful activities lead to progress,` he added.

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and members of the provincial assembly were also present on the occasion.

Mr Khan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa proved that its residents wanted to host international sports events in peaceful way. He said that people sent a loud and clear message to the global community that they were able to hold big matches and the foreign teams could play there.

`I congratulate Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people as well as police for ensuring such a nice match. The bravery shown by police is praiseworthy,` the PTI chief said.

Meanwhile, talking to members of provincial cabinet and administrative secretaries, Mr Khan advised them to make governance more transparent to facilitate com-mon people to easy access to justice and protect their rights.

He said that laws being formulated by the provincial government should not give any space to the wrongdoers.

The PTI chief said that resources of the province must be spent on the poor. Efforts should be made that resources were not misused by any individual, he added.

He said that government should discourage whimsical decisions, which were made in the past as those were source of exploitation of the poor. `It is good to see that efforts of government are leading to put an end to corrupt practices and rampant corruption,` he said.

Mr Khan said that corrupt elements might try to hamper the efforts of government against malpractices, irregularities and illegal activities in the province. He said the set of laws for making governance more transparent, monitoring governance rela-ted issues and detecting malpractices would lead to open and transparent governance in the province that would become a glaring example in the history.

Mr Khan wished to search out men of statures to head independent bodies in the province so that the people`strust could be won back. Such men would certainly have the ability to resist all pressures and contribute to good and transparent governance in the province, he added.

The PTI chief expressed satisfaction over the public welfare activities planned by the government.
