MANSEHRA: The protocol staff of Deputy Chairman Senate Abdul Ghafoor Haidri tortured a driver in Balakot on Sunday.

`I couldn`t get aside my vehicle in hurry because of steep road and rush when convoy of deputy chairman Senate was on its way to Mansehra. As a result, the protocol staff of Mr Haidri severely tortured me in front of him,` Mohammad Haroon, a resident of Kuwai, told reporters at Balakot police station.

Mr Haroon moved a complaint to Balakot police for registration of FIR against the Senate deputy chairman and his protocol staff stating that when protocol staff of Mr Haidri hit him with rifles and punched him, the parliamentarian watched in silence and didn`t ask his guards not to do so.

`And If police don`t lodge FIR against Mr Haidri and his staff I will go to every forum for seeking justice, he said.

The victim said the protocol staff also broke windscreen and windowpanes of his vehicle.

`I am a respectable citizen and cannot tolerate such torture and insult in the hands of those who are supposed to protect my honour,` he said.

Mohammad Arshad, the SHO Balakot, when contacted told Dawn that Mr Haroon had moved police for lodging of FIR in the matter, but said on the orders of the district police of ficer an inquiry had been launched into the case.
