Govt appoints 39 law officers mostly from PTI

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Thursday appointed 39 law officers including 18 additional and 21 assistant advocates general mostly affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.
A notification issued by the secretary law, parliamentary affairs and human rights department, mentioned that under the powers conferred by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Appointment of Law Officers Act, 2014, the department with the approval of the chief minister appointed the said additional and assistantadvocatesgeneralin the province.
Some of these have played a very active role after the May 9 protests as they have regularly been appearing in criminal cases faced by the PTI leaders and workers in different courts, including Peshawar High Court and its benches in other divisions.The additional advocates general include: Mohammad Inam Khan Yousafzai, Nomanul Haq Kakakhel, Adnan Ali, Agil Hussain, Mohammad Riaz Khan Paindakhel, Azhar Rahim, Amir Zaib, Ayub Zaman, Mohamamd Bashar Naveed and Abdur Rauf Afridi for Peshawar High Court, Peshawar, whereas Basharat Khan, Mohammad Asghar Khan Ghulam Mohammad Sapal and Haq Nawaz Khan have been appointed for PHC, Abbottabad, Bannu, DI Khan and Mingora bench, respectively.
Senior lawyers Shah Faisal Ilyas, Kausar Ali Shah and Noroz Khan have also been appointed as additional AGs for the Supreme Court, whereas another additional AG Umair Azam will be representing the government before the KP Services Tribunal.
Similarly, the newly appointed assistant advocates general include: Taskeenuddin Khattak, Fazle Maola, Javed Khan, Javedullah, Yasir Khalid,Bilal Khan, Rahmat Ali, Arbab Fakhre Alam, Ms Hum aira Gul, Niaz Mohammad and Jawad Ali for PHC, Peshawar.
Other assistant AGs include: Aamir Khan and Shoaib Ali for PHC Abbottabad bench, Najib Ullah and Abdul Waheed for PHC Bannu bench, Inamullah Khan and Ahmad Abu Hanifa Imam for PHC DI Khan bench and Rahimullah, Kamal and Naeem Khan for PHC Mingora bench (Darul Qaza).
It is pertinent to mention that last year after the caretaker government had replaced the then advocate general and appointed Aamir Javed on that post.
Similarly, the then additional and assistant advocates general were also replaced.
Following the general elections Aamir Javed and several member of his team had resigned.
A few days ago his resignation was accepted andin his place a seniorleader of Insaf Lawyers Forum, Shah Faisal Uthmankhel, was appointed as the newadvocate general.
During the last couple of days it was expected that the new additional and assistant AGs would be appointed, who will mostly be members of PTPs lawyers wing, ILF.
Earlier, in the day the government accepted the resignations tendered by 14 of the additional and assistant advocates general, who were appointed by the caretaker provincial government.
These law officers included nine additional and five assistant advocates general.
The additional AGs included: Umer Farooq, Habib Anwar, Mohammad Nisar, Danyal Asad Chamkani, Jalaluddin Akber Azam Gara, Mubashir Manzoor, Syed Qaiser Ali Shah, Barrister Saqib Raza and Sultan Mazhar Sher Khan.
Similarly, the resigned assistant AGs are: Barrister Syed Mohamamd Shah, Junaid zaman, Javaid Akhtar, Kamran Murtaza and Amir Farid Sadozai.advocate general.
