Digital monitoring of waste collection from hospitals

By Our Staff Reporter 2023-04-15
LAHORE: The Environment Protection Department (EPD) has launched the Hospital Waste Monitoring System (HWMS) to monitor the medical waste collected from various public and private hospitals across Punjab.

The Punjab Information Technology Board helped the EPD develop the system.

The system has been developed to monitor the medical waste collected from various public and private hospitals across Punjab.

The system will also monitor the minutes of meetings of the provincial advisory committee on hospital waste as well as those of divisional and district monitoring committees.

Furthermore, the details of functional and non-functional waste disposal incinerators can also be viewed through the system. The HWMS will also be helpful in direct monitoring of the department, whereas the performance of all the districts will also be monitored on a daily basis.

EPD Secretary Sajid Muhammad Chauhan said that the system would help to check the waste, which causes problems for the environment, and that after detecting the impact, measures would be taken to fix the problem by using the latest technology.
