Waziristan tribesmen demand peace

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A jirga of nine major tribes of Ahmedzai Wazir has demanded of the government to take concrete measures to arrest the worsening law and order situation in the region.

The jirga was held in Wana, the district headquarters of Lower South Waziristan, on Sunday.

The participants, including leading tribal elders and ulema, had a detailed discussion on the deteriorating law and order situation, and emphasised on maintaining peace in the region.

They demanded that concrete measures should be taken to establish peace and restore law and order situation.

They said it was the responsibility of the government to establish peace in the region. They assured to extend full support to the government in that regard.

The participants said people were concerned about targeted killing, robberies and other crimes in Wana, and called for unity among all the Ahmadzai Wazir tribes to take on the criminal elements.
