PESHAWAR: A man allegedly involved in the abduction of two minor girls was killed in an exchange of fire in Zakhakhel Bazaar of Khyber district, police said on Monday.
They said the girls, one 16-year-old and the other eight-year-old, were allegedly abducted from the women’s waiting area in Jamrud Bazaar a few days ago. Police subsequently recovered the girls during a search operation.
Police identified Shakirullah as the suspect. Members of the girls’ families, accompanied by members of the Zakhakhel peace organisation, later attempted to apprehend him in Zakhakhel Bazaar.
The police said firing broke out during the attempt, resulting in Shakirullah’s death.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the exchange of fire and the suspect’s death. — APP
