2014-12-15
RAWALPINDI: Two young brothers were burnt alive and their parents were injured in a fire caused by a gas leak on Saturday.

Sufaid Khan, a native of Mardan, lived with his wife and two sons - Suleman Khan, 7, and Sohail Khan, 8, in a rented room on the premises of a marble factory in Naseerabad.

Police said the room caught fire after an explosion when Zarina, the wife of Mr Khan, tried to ignite the gas burner in the kitchen on Saturday morning.

After hearing the sound of the explosion, people from the neighbourhood rushed to the scene and tried to extinguish the flames.

However, the two young sons of Mr Khan were burnt to death before the fire could be extinguished. Their parents sustained minor burn injuries and were taken to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH). The bodies of the two brothers were sent to the District Headquarters Hospital.

After a postmortem at the DHQ hospital, the bodies were handed over to the parents who took them to their native town.-Staff Reporter
