PARK DESIGN: This is with reference to the report ‘Mangrove cutting for land reclamation at Karachi’s Korangi Creek threatens environment’ (Sept 14), which mentioned that Tariq Alexander Qaiser designed the Mangrove Biodiversity Park (MBP). The park was actually conceived and master-planned by Shah Murad Aliani in collaboration with a private firm. Tariq Alexander, however, contributed to the design of the Learning Centre at the MBP.
MBP Spokesperson Karachi HAPPY TEACHERS: While educational institutions frequently organise seminars and webinars centred on students’ mental health and wellbeing, the emotional labour on the part of the teachers remains largely ignored.
Educators regularly navigate overwhelming administrative workloads, administrative pressure, and instances of workplace bullying and disrespect from students.
For many female teachers who serve as primary breadwinners, resigning is not a realistic option. When school managements overlook faculty’s mental and emotional wellbeing, the quality of education inevitably suffers. Creating a productive educational ecosystem requires a collective effort. School administrations and parents must recognise that a safe, respectful and supportive environment for teachers is an indispensable prerequisite for the success of students.
Aboo Bakar Naudero POULTRY PRICES: The prices of chicken meat are unusually high across Turbat where chicken is being sold for around Rs600 to Rs750 per kilogramme, while it is available for Rs350 to Rs500 per kg in other neighbouring cities.
Reportedly, some traders purchase chicken from vendors at wholesale rates of around Rs280 per kg and then sell it in Turbat for as high as Rs750 per kg. These reports deserve a properinvestigation because the high price of chicken is causing great hardship to the people.
The local administration should closely monitor the market and take effective steps to ensure fair prices for consumers.
