Dramatic reading of play on Quaid-i-Azam

LAHORE: A dramatic reading of Shahid Nadeem’s new English play ‘JAY’, first ever biographical theatre play on Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, will be held at Jinnah Public Library, Bagh-iJinnah, on Saturday.

The reading presents a distinctive theatrical perspective on Jinnah’s life, bringing historical events into dialogue with a contemporary story centred on identity and connection with Pakistan’s history, says a statement by Ajoka Theatre.

‘JAY’ was written at the request of the Pakistan Association of Greater Houston and commissioned to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam.

The dramatic reading will feature a 14-member cast and will be accompanied by archival footage and background music.

Entry to the reading will be free and on a firstcome, first-served basis.

Ajoka Theatre also held a dramatic reading of ‘JAY’ at the Kinnaird College for Women University on Sept 11, in collaboration with the International Centre for Pakistani Writers in English (ICPWE).
