BAJAUR: A child was killed after a room of a house collapsed in Barang tehsil of Bajaur district on Monday night.
Officials and residents said that the incident occurred in the hilly Kohi area when a room in the house of Said Rahman caved in.
They said that Rahman’s eight-year-old son, Marwan Khan, was seriously injured. He died while being shifted to the hospital.
However, they said that no other casualties were reported in the mud-built room collapse that had been weakened by recent rains.
Meanwhile, according to a statement issued from the deputy commissioner’s office, a team of district administration officials led by Khar additional assistant commissioner Mohammad Nisar Khan visited the house on Tuesday and met the bereaved family.
The statement added that besides offering condolences, the officials also handed over non-food items to the family as emergency relief.
Meanwhile, Bajaur received torrential rain on Tuesday, making the weather pleasant.
Residents said that the rain started after a brief windstorm and lasted for two hours, lashing Lowi Mamund, War Mamund, Salarzai tehsils and other mountainous areas.
