KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has written a letter to the acting chief justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC), Justice Junald Ghaffar, expressing concerns over the `increasing accidents and fatalities involving dumpers and tankers in Karachi` and urging the court `to ensure the strict implementation` of its directives regarding traffic rules.
Earlier, on Feb 6, Mr Tessori had written a similar letter to the then chief justice of the SHC, Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, before his elevation to the apex court for nearly the same reasons.
`The alarming frequency of such incidents reflects administrative negligence and a lacl< of regulatory enforcement, he stated. `The SHC recently addressed a petition regarding the ban on heavy traffic entering the city and ordered that such vehicles be restricted from 7am to 11pm, with violators facing vehicle seizure.
He stated that reports suggested that enforcement of the ban remained inconsistent, intensifying public safety concerns.
`Given the severity of the situation, I urge the honorable high court to ensure strict implementation of its directives and take notice of administrative lapses contributing to these fatal accidents, reads the governor`s letter.
`The people of Karachi look up to the esteemed judiciary for firm action for ensuring public safety,` he stated.
