Eight injured in Bannu bike blast

BANNU: Eight people, among them three members of law-enforcement agencies, were injured in a remote-controlled bomb blast in Bannu on Friday.

Police and area residents said that militants had fitted a remote-controlled bomb to a motorcycle and parked it near the house of Sher Akbar Khan, naib subedar of the Khasadar force, in a market at Mandan Chowk.

Police reached the spot after having been informed about the presence of a sus-pected motorbike. As the police started examining the bike, the bomb was detonated by the remote control.

Three police personnel, including an additional SHO, a Khasadar and four civilians were injured in the blast.

They were identified as Amin Khan, the additional SHO, constables Azizullah and Raziq, Khasadar Ibrahim Khan, Arshad, Kahlid Farooq, Mohammad Zahoor and Mohammad Zaheer.

They were taken to the district headquarters hospital in Bannu.

No group claimed responsibilityfor the attack.
