Grand finale of LAC`s talent hunt show next month

LAHORE: The Lahore Arts Council will hold grand finale of finalists from the open talent hunt singing and instrumentalists show in the first week of June.

Talking to Dawn on Saturday, permanent host of the programme and display and design officer of LAC, Naveen Roma, said: `Some 50 or so finalists of the show, which has completed a seven-week run, will be auditioned for the grand finale.

The jury, she said, would comprise music teachers and a few celebrities from the music world.

Roma said the council would awardcash prizes for three top positions along with certificates to winners of the finale night. A major portion of finalist singers is from the general public, however, some students from different performing art institutions including Alhamra Academy of Arts are also among them.

The grand finale, she said, would be a big show in which personalities from film, TV and theatre would also be invited to encourage the participants and winners. The singers and instrumentalists who would be ñnalised after the auditions would also perform on the occasion.

She said the talent hunt show was getting immense popularity among the masses and in each programme manynew faces chipped in to perform.

`Our last show had students from Kinnaird College and Government College University as well along with men and women from general public and some of them sang fabulously, she added.

Roma said she would like to update and inform interested singers and instrumentalists through the pages of Dawn that Alhamra had made certain changes in the process of auditions when it came to upcoming shows.

The interested candidates would be auditioned a day before the show which was held on Wednesdays at 5pm. The auditions and enrolments for the Wednesday show would be carried out on Tuesdays, she said.
