CHITRAL: The Chilim Jusht festival of Kalash people concluded here on Tuesday attended by hundreds of local and foreign tourists.

The festival started on May 12 in Kalash valley, where a tent village had been established by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) to facilitate the tourists.

The festival marks the arrival of summer season and provides an opportunity to the visitors to witness the lifestyles of the Kalash people. The TCKP had also set up an information centre for local and foreign tourists and also provided low cost travelling package to over 100 tourists. TCKP General Manager Mushtaq Ahmed Khan said the corporation would extend more facilities to attract families to the festival next year.

The people of Kalash celebrated the festival while dancing on traditional music and drumbeats. Chilim Jusht festival is celebrated in May every year by Kalash people to thank god Goshidai as they believe it protects their herds during spring and summer seasons. APP
