ISLAMABAD: In an effort to advance women welfare, Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) reached an understanding with different organisations to impart vocational training to women and enable them to earn a livelihood.
The government-owned social safety net signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National University of Technology (Nutech) and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVT TC) on Tuesday.
The MoUs are aimed at enhancing the quality and effectiveness of vocational training programmes for women across the country for their economic empowerment and skills development. The signing ceremony was held at the PBM headquarters and was attended by senior leadership from all three institutions.
Managing Director PBM Senator Shaheen Khalid Butt, Rector of Nutech Lt Gen (retired) Moazzam Ejaz, and NAVTTC Executive DirectorMohammad Aamir Jan signed the MoUs.
Under the partnership, Nutech’s Board of Technical and Professional Education (NBTPE) and a team of technical experts will support the modernisation of 165 women empowerment centres operated by Pakistan Baitul Mal all over the country.
The collaboration will focus on aligning training programmes with contemporary market demands, introducing standardised curricula and a uniform and third-party examination system, and ensuring the issuance of nationally recognised certifications to the graduates. Speaking at the ceremony, the PBM chief emphasised that empowering financially disadvantaged women through vocational training and market-relevant skills remained a key priority for Pakistan Baitul Mal.
